Veterans Crisis Line Video

To all:

I want to share with you a public service/consumer alert video Senator Franken recently recorded about the Veterans Crisis Line

Please feel free to distribute this video as far and as wide as possible.  The Veterans Crisis Line is a fantastic service and I have talked to many veterans who still view it as a “suicide only” line.  This is not the case.  The service is open (via a confidential toll-free hotline, online chat, or text) to vets, their families, and their friends.  It is not just for suicide prevention.  It provides round-the-clock support for a wide range of issues, such as chronic pain, anxiety, depression, sleeplessness, anger, and even homelessness.  For instance, it is something that can be used while having an anxiety attack while being stuck in traffic or while sitting in the parking lot of a liquor store contemplating going in and buying something to drink.  It is something spouses can use if they think their loved ones are showing the signs of experiencing mental health issues associated with military service.  The on-line chat is especially helpful for veterans who need help while working.  It is a really wonderful tool that more people should know about.
